Around a year ago, I got a tote pattern from a fellow quilter that I met at Quilt Con in 2024, and have made quite a few since then, adapting it to fit my needs. I absolutely love how this bag is sized, how strong and durable it is, and I love the fact that it can be thrown in the wash. (I’ve spilled an entire kombucha in it, so I know about the need to get it clean.)
Each bag is semi-structured (in other words, not totally floppy) as it is not only lined but also has a layer of thicker cotton batting between the outer and inner layers. The straps are all handmade and very sturdy. The seams are all reinforced with a binding layer that is hand-sewn around the top. Each one is truly one of a kind.
This tote is like a small piece of art you can carry around wherever you’re headed this summer. At about 15” × 17”, it’s the perfect size to throw a couple of books and snacks into for an afternoon at the pool, or to pack in your carry on and pull out when you reach your final destination. Maybe you just want to carry all your summer reads to and from the library! I know you’ll have the cutest bag of any library patron.
